Of course, here it is below (yum.conf)

Code:
[main]
cachedir=/var/cache/yum
keepcache=0
debuglevel=2
logfile=/var/log/yum.log
distroverpkg=redhat-release
tolerant=1
exactarch=1
obsoletes=1
gpgcheck=1
plugins=1

# Note: yum-RHN-plugin doesn't honor this.
metadata_expire=1h

# Default.
# installonly_limit = 3

# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d

The CentOS-Base.repo file looks fine, but I'm not entirely clear on what the asl.repo file is actually needed for... perhaps it would be better to comment that file out, and see if it works without it? I don't know that it will but I don't remember needing anything like that when I was running CentOS. I could be wrong so as always, backup the file before you test any changes!

-Alternatively-

As a temporary fix you might want to try adding a line like this to your /etc/yum.conf

Code:
[repository ID]
name=repository name
baseurl=url, file or ftp://path to repository
using this http://www.centos.org/modules/tinyco...ndex.php?id=30 page to find a mirror baseurl.

Edit:
after some googling I came across this page: http://www.atomicorp.com/wiki/index....L_installation

that may help with the atomicorp stuff, it seems to be a security feature of some description that I never bothered with.

I'll see if i can do do that.

Why can't i just find where it is pulling:
Code:
https://atomicorp.com/channels/asl-3.0/centos/5/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml
from and replace it with

Code:
http://mirror.its.dal.ca/centos/5/contrib/x86_64/repodata/repomd.xml
?

Where would it store the first link?

EDIT: Because you have to pay for this whole atomicorp.net thing, and i dont see what the big deal is here, i just want to install yum!

That might work, worth trying too at least, as I said I'm a bit rusty when it comes to CentOS (and yum in general) so I'm going from memory mostly.

atomicorp.com, asl (and the asl.repo file) are related to the security feature I mentioned in the edit to my last post though and I'm not clear on how exactly all that works having never used it before. it looks like using the code given on that wiki page:
Code:
wget -q -O - https://www.atomicorp.com/installers/asl |sh
might be able to set you up with authorization for asl and the atomicorp repos etc. that it's telling you you do not have access too.

But that is assuming you want the asl features at all (and I honestly know nothing more about asl, so you'll have to look around their site/wiki to decide if you want it or not)

Edit: since you seem to not want ASL, I would say just try removing the ASL repositories (back them up just in case) and see if it works. I don't see why they are involved with anything you tried to do, but because it's a security 'feature' it seems to be interrupting you for whatever reason
