i'm using Red Hat Enterprise server 5.1
i have a problem installing yum.
its shows error when i install the yum package.


anyone guide me step by step?

this is the step for yum server

step-1: mount your dvd and copy your /Server to any directory
step-2: go to /etc/yum.repos.d and here u find a file rhel-debuginfo.repo.

copy this file if some another name abhi.repo

now make the changes

[abhi]
name=abhi
baseurl=file:///Server(mention the path)
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0
#gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release

then again go to /Server directory and install

rpm -ivh createrepo-0.4.4-2.fc6.noarch.rpm

then,createrepo and path where your copied /Server

#yum list
#service yum-updatesd restart
thats all
