What's the difference between read only=no and writable=yes in Samba?

What's the difference between read only=no and writable=yes in Samba?

I see some docs stating read only=no means writable, then at this point, what's the differece with writable=yes?

I think they are interchangable.

I have noticed one time that writable=yes was changed to read-only=no after I ran testparm to check the config. Or that might just be me being delusional or something.

After all, I notice no difference between the two.

Maybe the samba docs can clarify this, maybe it's a change in config between some versions of samba?

They are, in fact, the same. This is from the samba docs.

writeable (S)

Inverted synonym for read only.

Default: writeable = no
