Unhappy VOIP Gate Keeper error (GNUgk)

Hi Guys
I installed gnugk to try it
I am also using it web interface
I starts and functions fine
whenever I try to connect to port 7000 to let the webserver connects to it and starts controlling it
I get access denied
even when i try to telnet port 7000 as root i get access denied
How can I know which service is using this port ?
I think it's netstat but what options do I use?
Thanks

Hi hobz,

you must explicitely allow access to the status port in the config file (otherwise anybody could access your gatekeeper).

Take a lookt at the [Gatekeeper::Auth] section in the GnuGk manual.

You can also subscribe the the users mailinglist for more info. There is a form on gnugk.org.

Regards,
Jan

I am still new to this
But I think you mean the settings in gnugk.ini
this is whats written in the auth section

[GkStatus::Auth]
rule=explicit
; add more entries, if you access the status port from other hosts
127.0.0.1=allow
10.0.0.*=allow
default=forbid
Shutdown=allow

and this line from the log
GkStatus.cxx(1547) STATUS Could not open listening socket at 10.0.0.1:7000 - error 12/98: Address already in use

You can use 'lsof' to check if some other program is using that port.

But also you have to fix the authentication rule for the 10.0.0.0 network. To use wildcars, you need to use the regex syntax. There's an example in the manual.
See the [GkStatus::Auth] section.
