Both are obsolete. 5.5 is the current release in the 5.x series, and 6.0 was just released.
RHEL is an "enterprise" distro (i.e. it costs money) so if you are a paying customer, they should explain this all to you and offer the latest updates.
If you don't want to pay for RHEL then consider CentOS, which provides the same functionality at a price tag of zero.
