Use SSHFS for Home Directory Mounts on CentOS 6
Since we do not have kerberos set up (NFSv4) and NFSv3 is not the most secure, we were wondering if anyone is using sshfs for centralized home directory mounts?
I'm going to try to get this to work. The challenge seems to be in making sure that on the "home directory server" end that ACLs will be maintained. For example, if I configure an sshfs mount in /etc/fstab to be mounted at boot, whatever user I put in the /etc/fstab file will be what everyone who accesses the directory will use on the destination. If I use root in the /etc/fstab with key authentication and if joe signs in and interacts with his home directory, it will be showing up as root instead of joe.
I just wanted to see if anyone else has documentation for how to set this up. I'm going to try to use autofs to mount this at the time a user signs in. The idea is that when the user signs in, their home directory will be mounted via sshfs as themselves.
