Uninstall and reinstall apache.

I have bought a new vps. [centos]

It has apache installed. But it's not in the default directory. [ /usr/local/apache2]

I browsed all directories, but can't find apache.

But it's running, as I can view files and default apache page.

How can I remove current apache installation, and then reinstall it?

I also tried to install new version, without any uninstallation. But I am getting "missing file operand" error.

And the worst part is I don't know linux. I typed first ssh command yesterday.

After trying many tutorials provided on internet, [none of them worked] I am asking this question here.

I hope I may get answer. Thank you in advance.

Running 'rpm -q httpd' shows you the version installed and 'rpm -ql httpd' shows where the files are. Say you're looking for the configuration directory you could 'rpm -ql httpd|grep etc/'.

* Before you do anything to the system I suggest you start by reading docs like Rute (search for it at LQ), the Deployment Guide (install the Deployment_Guide-en-US-5.2-11.el5 package if not there), any other general (Red Hat) Linux administrators documentation and check if backups are enabled.
