Ubuntu server reboot problem after installation

After auto installation of Fiesty server edition onto an old computer, the grub boot loader displays OK, then "Starting up . . . .", then the system reboots.

I checked using edit at the boot menu and all seems OK (root ha1,0).

If the computer is left alone, it boots and reboots ad infinitum.

I'm fairly new to Linux but loaded an old laptop with the desktop edition without a hitch and am enjoying the experience.

Any ideas to assist?

I want to experiment with LAMP and Joomla.

AMD K6/450, 390Mb RAM, 20Gb HDD.

After a search of the web, it seems that the AMD is a common factor in this and similar problems.
I worked around the issue by loading the desktop edition of Ubuntu (7.04). While in desktop, load the Server Edition CD and system will automatically install the server files.
Another advantage is the GUI.
