Timeout vaule for file

Hi,

Is there anyway to set timeout value for a file [file.txt ] in linux.

The files are having readonly permission, it is referred by the application when batch job runs.

Often the file [file.txt ] is left open by the end user, its creating problem for the application when it runs.

Hi Anand,

A workaround could be killing the process which has opened the file. You could write a script which would do that and run it as a cron before your application starts.

Can OP show some more detail of this problem? Normally it's ok for multiple processes to have the same file open.
