TimeOut Problem on Apache

Hi all,

I have a time out problem my Apache server when generating a log-run report.

the report is called by executing the generatereport.pl file, when the file is executed via bash using: perl generatereport.pl it takes about 7 min to generate. Yet when I call the file using http request to apache it gives time out. please note I setup
Code:
TimeOut 720
on my apache configuration.

any hints or ideas??

Have you checked your logs? Can apache run that program; check ownerships & permissions.

Yes, Apache can run this program, the logs gives the following error

"Timeout waiting for output from CGI script /path/name.pl"
"Script timed out before returning headers"

I had the same error and it turned out to have nothing to do with the timeout settings of the server, but instead it was the client that timed out and stopped.

If you are using perl's LWP::UserAgent in the client, you can try changing the timeout parameter:
(I cannot post links, so you'll have to search Google for "perl lwp useragent timeout" - without quotes)
