I have tried every hint and tip and readme file I can find, from LQ and on RealVNC and UVNC and a few other sites.
I am using VNC on my own PC, which runs Slackware 11 & 2.6.20 kernel. The default desktop manager/window manager used by VNC is 'fvwm', which does start fine. However, regardless what I put in this file above it insists on starting 'fvwm' (or atleast what appears to be fvwm). I get an Xterm window, and inside it appears a little white console window, with my shell-prompt.
At the prompt, I can enter 'startkde' and KDE starts up exactly like it always does when I log into my actual desktop (even though the little white console window remains), so the functionality is there; but WHY can I not get the silly VNC Viewer, ie: the 'xstartup' file above, to do this for me? I want my KDE Desktop to appear inside the Xterm window, and if possible, maybe even
**without** the little stupid white console window in there.
(P.S. ~ Mods, sorry about the misplacement in 'networking'
)
