hi,

i belive this problem was created when i fiddled with pdm.d directory when i enabled ldap authentication. My ldap server is working fine. but the problem is that when i su even as the root user its asking for the user password.

root@mail etc#su magin

then i have to enter the ldap or system password of user magin to switch the user to magin. This is creating lot of problem for some system services.

i tried stopping the ldap server. still the problem persists.

I don't think you can do this. Even as root when you switch to another user you must always enter each user's password. Only if it was passwordless but that's not an option.
