On Slackware 12
Sendmail 8.14
Squirrelmail 1.4.10a
Vacation_local 2.0-14
VSFTPD 2.0.5
Squirrelmail works, and vsftpd works separately.
When configuring, I had created the ~squirrelmail/attachments (I also created an ~/attach/ directory too, because I had seen reference to that somewhere)
I am a little confused about the install of the vacation_local package. I basically unzipped the directory, checked the config.mk, ran the make, and make install
went into config.pl and selected it.
when users go into Options > Vacation Message in SM, the top line has
Code:
ERROR:
Error: Unable to upload file. Please contact your system administrator.
the /var/log/httpd/error_log shows:

This is off of a pretty fresh install. Mail services are the first thing I have worked on for this machine.
What rights is it requiring, and what directories is it requiring to ftp the files?
Can I look anywhere else to see what specifically might be the problem?
thanks for any direction

I also checked my php.ini file, and
