squid service not restarting


hi all
im a facingg a strng prblm with squid.....im not able to restart the service of squid.......wenever i m trying to start the service it shows that the service has failed......i unistalled the rpm package and the installed it again...bur all in vain ......i stopped squid thrugh killing it thru is pid and thenn started the squid by using the cmnd "start squid"...also wenever the squid is runnig it is taking 2 pids (ex: 4124 4126)...hws tat happening i dnt knw........
....please help me ......im not able to restsrt or strt the squid service .
