Simple SUDO Question - HOST Section

Hello all!

I have a question about sudo.
The OS is Fedora8.

I know sudo well, BUT there is something that I still can't understand.

sudo rule looks like that:

john webserver1=(root) /etc/init.d/httpd restart

Now, my question is about the HOST part.
I can't figure it out...
From all the reading sudo sources I read I understood that the HOST part tells on what hosts I CAN execute the command... BUT... It's don't make sense...

If I'm working on machine with the name of fedora-desktop and I have the sudo rule above in /etc/sudoers, what's the meaning?

If I want to run the command on webserver1 I will ssh to it and run it from there, and then I passed my local sudoers and working with the remote computer sudoers file...

My problem is that I can't understand how it's help me to manage the host part... It's looks weird...

Can someone explain? Can I use it maybe with NIS or something like that from central place??? What I don't understand???

Thanks in advance.
