Setting DNS on Fedora core 4

Hi guys,

I have a domain janarbek.com which is registered in GoDaddy.

I have a web server on apache Fedora core 4. I can successfully installed

a apache and I can see my web server running from 1.1.1.1 IP.

Now, I want to see the contents of 1.1.1.1 when i type janarbek.com.

As far as I know, i have to register name server ips with GoDaddy.

But I have one only one IP that is 1.1.1.1. How i can do that?

Thanks in advance.

you would not (should not) run this yourself based on what you've said about your setup. either use DNS with godaddy themselves (which i'm sure they do, and you may already have access to) or use a third party, such as zoneedit to do your dns.

Why???

My domain is registered GoDaddy.

If I get host from other company for example ixwebhosting.com they will give me two name server IPs.

I can register that 2 name server ips to goDaddy. But, I don't want to lease a host because i have already server running in linux.

I can see my webs from Http://1.1.1.1 ip. So I want to make a 2 name server ips and register them to GoDaddy.

Is it not possible?

Hi,
Let me see if I can help you on this.

You have an option in Godaddy to map your domain to the IP. By doing this
when I go to yoururl.com --> resolved to --> http://1.1.1.1.

But only if your IP is publically seen on the internet (i.e., should be static ).

If its dynamic., then try to use dyndns.org.. or something similar.

Do port forwarding and enable DMz.

Best Regards & Happy New Year

if you need three question marks to ask why, then the answer is becuase you don't understand enough about dns to run it yourself at all.
