Sendmail and Outlook 2007

Hi

I am facing some issues with Outlook 2007. The below mentioned environment is a test environment.

I am using sendmail as my mail server. Outlook 2003 and 2007 are the mail clients

I am using Outlook 2003 as my mail client. So whenever i send any emails from the Outlook 2003 to someone using my email server, and if the person at the receiving end checks the MESSAGE ID of the email i send, its looks as mentioned below.

Message-ID: <2709E3ACBE3E49FCB75C10850C60782B@testext.com>

Please note: In this case there is a domain name at the end of the Message-ID

The problem with this message id started when using Outlook 2007.
So if i send the same email to a person using Outlook 2007, and when the receiver check my email headers, then he sees the message id as follows

Message-ID: <004701c94c6b$b271bda0$175538e0$@com>

Please note: There is no domain name at the end of the Message ID

WELL MY INTENTION IS TO LOOK THE MESSAGE ID WITH THE DOMAINNAME AT THE END.
(that is it should be like
"Message-ID: <2709E3ACBE3E49FCB75C10850C60782B@testext.com>")

So is there anyway that i can achieve this using Outlook 2007.
Please do help

Thanks & Regards
Biju

Hey!

To be sure it is not a configuraion error, check your sendmail- or submit.cf on valid rulesets:

$grep Message-Id: /etc/mail/*.cf
/etc/mail/sendmail.cf:H?M?Resent-Message-Id: <$t.$i@$j>
/etc/mail/sendmail.cf:H?M?Message-Id: <$t.$i@$j>
/etc/mail/submit.cf:H?M?Resent-Message-Id: <$t.$i@$j>
/etc/mail/submit.cf:H?M?Message-Id: <$t.$i@$j>

On the other hand: i 've read lots of trouble with malformed Messages-ID & other stuff where Outlook was involved.
Microsoft mail-clients never bothered very much in passing through the right information.

Cheers, Q

Message ID by outlook 2007

HI

I am replying after a long gap..I did all sorts of search for this issue and so far no success. As per the previous reply i can confirm that my send mail configuration is correct.

No idea why outlook 2007 is generating the message id with out a proper domainnamme at the end...

BUt outlook 2003 works perfeectly and it generates the message id with the domainname at the end.

Please can anyone help

Biju
