Where did you search??? From the PureFTPD documentation:
Code:
------------------------ DISPLAYING BANNERS ------------------------
If a '.banner' file is located in the 'ftp' user home directory (or in the
root directory of a virtual server, see below), it will be printed when the
client logs in. Put a nice ASCII-art logo with your name in that file.
This file shouldn't be larger than 4000 bytes, or it won't be displayed.
In each directory, you may also have a '.message' file. Its content will be
printed when a client enters the directory. Such a file can contain important
information ("Don't download version 1.7, it's broken!") .

Are you talking about the default pure-ftpd banner, or a custom one?
In the latter case, you should check the config file (if you're using one), or the pure-ftpd options for the -F option (something like: -F/path/to/banner). And of course you can create a banner file containing what you like your users to see when connecting to ftp.
If you want to get rid of the default banner, then you should either recompile puref-tpd without the "--with-cookie" option, or use a txt file containing just a blank space.

I told you what you can do in my previous post!
I guess you don't want to recompile pure-ftpd, so you need to create a txt file containing just a blank space (e.g. /blank-banner.txt) and use the -F option when starting pure-ftpd (-F/blank-banner.txt)
