Please bear with me as I am a novice at Linux. I have an ACAS (
http://www.disa.mil/cybersecurity/network-defense/acas) server that I was tasked with building nearly 4 years ago. I completed the task and have used the server monthly since. The OS is RHEL Server 5.1.19.6. One piece of software is outdated and needs updating via a .tar.gz file which I have downloaded from the DoD Patch Repository onto my external hard drive.
I believe the RHEL laptop is not recognizing my HD when I plug it in via USB. The reason I think this is while the HD is plugged in, I run the below commands and here are their outputs.
ls /dev/ | grep sd
fidsk -1
Code:
Disk /dev/sda: 320.0 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 33 265041 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 34 1277 9992430 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda3 1278 38913 302311170 8e Linux LVM
lsusb
Code:
-bash: lsusb: command not found
usbutils
Code:
-bash: usbutils: command not found
I am thinking something is not installed through YUM that I need to install but I haven't been able to find out what that is. Any help is appreciated.
