questions on Xen
I was curious, as I've never really used Xen much, and figured this would be the best overall place to ask. I'm sitting on a server running Gentoo 2008.0, 4GB Ram, Athlon X2 4800 I believe, 2 320gb drives. The server was setup with running VMs in mind, but only 2 or 3 vms really, nothing seriously major. The default setup included a 2.6.27.5 kernel, compiled w/ Xen Dom0 support and 1 VM running Ubuntu 9.04 w/ a 2.6.24-23-xen domU kernel. both were provided by the server company, along with Xen 3.4.0-rc3
Now the question. I want to setup another DomU running the latest Arch linux, and as of yet, I cant seem to get it to work. I seem to run up against a wall where it says /sbin/init doesnt exist, and a boat load of other various mount errors, then it drops to busybox. I haven't gotten around this error at all to even run an install, and all of the howtos/walkthrough/mailing lists i find dont really offer much in terms of assistance for this. I could go to the server provider for it but they only have an ubuntu image laying around, nothing else. Any chance someone can help with a quick walkthrough on mounting the arch image into the loop, the rough xen config to run the loop and what i need to do after booting and installing arch?
At this point, I'm at a loss. I could run ubuntu, or even a stacklet/jailtime image of any other os on there, but I feel like running arch on this particular vm. Any help would be much appreciated. Even a link to a proper walkthrough on a full install of a domu from scratch (iso) would be appreciated.
