Problem snmpd


Dear List.

I don't speak english sorry,

I Have problem with centos 5

root@midominio ~]# service snmpd restart
Stopping snmpd: [FAILED]
Starting snmpd: [ OK ]

my log:

Feb 21 07:59:21 midominio snmpd[12867]: NET-SNMP version 5.3.1

i see status daemon:

[root@midominio ~]# service snmpd status
snmpd dead but pid file exists

remove /var/run/smtpd.pid... nothing

have idea?

Try to restart snmpd again, and then look at the bottom
of /var/log/messages. It will probably give you a clue
as to what the problem is.

I have the same problem.. Last line on /var/log/messages when I restart snmpd

Okay, time to try re-installing it. Whatever method you
use to install software will work to remove it. After
that install it again. This fixes a lot of unusual problems.

i reinstall all the packages as below and it fixed my problem...so try it, it might help u too!

yum install -y net-snmp
yum install -y net-snmp-devel
yum install -y net-snmp-libs
yum install -y net-snmp-perl
yum install -y net-snmp-utils
yum install -y mrtg

Hi, did reinstalling for sure solved your problem? I have the same issue, but it happens just occasionally. Then I have to wait about 1 hour, or start it in for cycle until it gets started.
