Problem in running Sophos Antivirus scanning

Hi,

I have been installed Sophos antivirus in my linux server.

I was trying to scan using "savscan /" in my machine, but when I do it, I am getting the following error
message
savscan: error while loading shared libraries: libcommunicationsimpl.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

My sophos savscan is under RH90/bin/_

but my libraries are in RH90/lib/

Could you tell me how to set the path and also tell me the process for scanning it.

Thanks
Linuxguy008

Hi and welcome to LQ

You can add the full path to the libraries in /etc/ld.so.conf, like:
Code:
/full/path/to/RH90/lib
and run
Code:
ldconfig
afterwards.

Regards

Hi,

Thanks. Yes the error did not appear now.

But again when I execute the ./savscan / it gives the following error
Error: Unable to execute on-demand scanner '/path/sophos-av/sav-linux/rh90/engine/savscan.base'

But savscan.base is existing under that directory. Let me know what should I do for it.

Thanks

Hi,

I cannot tell what the problem is. Maybe it's because you installed the software in a non default directory.
Maybe you can add the the path to savscan in your PATH, so it can be called from anywhere in your file system. For bash you can use
Code:
export PATH=/full/path/to/savscan:$PATH
and run it without the ./ at the beginning
Code:
savscan /
