Poor Man's Ping Monitor

I was working on this "Ping Monitor" script over the weekend, and now I need some guinea pigs for testing

If you'd like to try it and provide feedback I'd appreciate it!

README: http://204.12.214.88/pm/README

Download: http://204.12.214.88/pm/pm.tar.gz

(Moderators: hopefully this post is OK here in the 'Servers' forum. A primary use of the script is to monitor remote servers. But if not, please feel free to move ir to the appropriate place. Thanks!)

For what it's doing it seems to be working fine. For the purpose of learning/exercising shell programming it's a nice bit of code. Seems like a little bit of "reinventing the wheel" for a production script, though. But that's probably just me.

If you want to compare your script with other similar ones it wouldn't be a bad idea. Just to see how others are doing it can often lead to a better working of your own implementation.
