Post permission of the backup file

Guys,

My application team took a backup of one application's content for upgrading task. Finally they got a backup directory with a permission of
drwxr-xr-x nobody:nobody.

I want to know why its owner is showing "nobody" ?
My application team took this backup as a root user.what could be the possible reasons?
Is it possible to use content successfully while I use this directory to restore the content of that application I am attaching snapshot in this post.Pls help in this case.

It is interesting how you make backup? Was it just cp (copying files) or some other software was involved?

Repeating jareklakman's question: How was the backup made?
