PECL Module Installation help

Hi, I was trying to configure the OAuth module in ubuntu 9.04, after a while I found some instructions for Fedora and I finally get things working ...

sudo apt-get install liboauth-php
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-gnutls-dev
sudo apt-get install php5-dev
sudo pecl install -R /usr/lib/php5/ oauth-0.99.9

sudo apache2ctl restart

this is what I type, but I don't fully understand it... why do I need to install libcurl dev and php dev? Is there a simpler way to install it or another module in php?

Thanks for your time...

PHP-DEV includes some development packages for PHP. SO, OAuth might be requiring some development modules to work with PHP. Hence, it was asking you to install these dependency modules.

BTW, Are you trying to configure OAuth with PHP?

if you have php5 installed you can usually install the module you need doing something like this..

apt-get install php5-(module)

blue print: yeah, I was trying to install the OAuth module on PHP but now I'm not sure as I've seen that usually people just copy the oauth.php file into the directory instead of using it as module...

Its ok. But, PHP should know OAuth mechanism right?

Like in Apache, we are loading PHP as a module so that Apache can server the PHP pages. Same like, PHP should load the OAuth module so that the setup will work.
