not able to install any thing


i fresh installed centos 5.4 with default option.
but now when iam trying to install using yum


# yum -v update --disablerepo=contrib
Loading "fastestmirror" plugin
Config time: 0.032
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* base: mirrors.hns.net.in
* c5-media:
* centosplus: mirrors.hns.net.in
* extras: mirrors.hns.net.in
* updates: mirrors.hns.net.in
repo time: 5.107
Yum Version: 3.2.22
Setting up Package Sacks
file:///media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 5] OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/media/CentOS/repodata/repomd.xml'
Trying other mirror.
file:///media/cdrecorder/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 5] OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/media/cdrecorder/repodata/repomd.xml'
Trying other mirror.
file:///media/cdrom/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 5] OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/media/cdrom/repodata/repomd.xml'

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: c5-media. Please verify its path and try again




what is missing .please tell me.

Hi

First Copy repo file under /

then install Createrepo

and

Create the repo and grouping the package

Edit repos.d file

then start ..

In RHEL6 there is default repo so first disable it , edit etc/yum/yum.conf and make enable=0 ... i hope in centos6 also has same issue
P.s- i think the path is /etc/yum/yum.conf please check it..

Then you're missing 4 updates already. Current is 5.8.

You're missing another exclusion rule. If temporary, run it manually this way:

yum check-update --disablerepo=contrib --disablerepo=c5-media
or set "enabled=0" in the /etc/yum.repos.d/ repo file that configures the "[c5-media]" section. It's not in /etc/yum/conf and you definitely don't need to install createrepo.
