NGINX vs Apache: is there a big gain even for low usage servers?
I have to run a local webserver off a Pogoplug, as a result of which resources are very constrained (128 MB RAM, dual core chip but not very fast). Usage on the server is going to be low at present - a maximum of five or so simultaneous users. However it has to run the webserver itself as well as mysql and PHP.
In this context, which server would be the best to use?
I am aware that NGINX and lighttpd are much better than Apache at high usage levels, but is there a significant difference at these kinds of low usage levels?
I ask because Apache seems easier to configure given the wealth of stuff out there for it already (I'm a server newbie), so not sure if it is necessary to use one of the other server packages. System is Debian Linux Squeeze.
