Question New linux user trying to setup shares

Hi

I just bought a HP ProLiant MicroServer and I want to be able to use it to store my files so they are accessible by everyone on my network. Same sort of way a NAS works.

I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 for this but I am unsure how exactly to do this. I am a newbie to Linux, I have only a couple of weeks experience. I know there is another program you can for this freeNAS but I don't want to be limited to just running NAS on the box.

If someone knows how to would it be possible to instruct me in a dummies way please

Thank You for your help.

Neil

Hi Jonze, Welcome to LQ. You'll need to setup Samba. There are guides and tutorials here.

Good luck. ;-)
