new ldap user has not email facilities

Hello,

Two servers: sarria and pedralbes
- pedralbes: LDAP directory
- sarria: Postfix mail server

The system works fine with existing users. They can log into an intranet webapp and mail authenticated through LDAP.

My problem is adding a new user.

I use the webapp lam to manage LDAP. I create a new user filling the needed information:
suffix: ou=People,dc=ubilibet,dc=com
rdn: uid
username:
commonname:
uidnumber:
... etc

The new user can log into the webapp, machines,... but it is not able to have a mail account working.

After the new user is created I edit the user and add the MailAccount object setting the rfc822Mailbox value. The only difference I see with other users is that they have aliases field.

I configure the mail account in a mail client and the user can send mails, but when I try to reply to him I get this undelivered message from mailer daemon:

Diagnostic-Code: x-unix; procmail: Couldn't create "/var/mail/manou" procmail:
Couldn't chdir to "/home/manou/Maildir/" procmail: Couldn't create or
rename temp file "./ome/manou/.procmailrc"

Do i need to execute any command in mail server to create the mail structure for the new user? or do i have to create any directory by hand for the mail configuration ?

I feel lost and frustaded, I don't know how to make the new user able to use the mail server.

NOTE: The system is well configured since the rest of users can work normally, so no problem with postfix + ldap system configuration guess.

Any help/guide will be really appreciate.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the replay.

is the /var/mail folder writable by the mail system?
--> I guess not:
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 sep 25 19:55 mail

does the folder /home/manou on the the mailserver (sarria) exist?
--> yes, it does
drwxr-xr-x 5 manou domainusers 4096 feb 28 10:10 manou

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

No I don't. This is what is strange for me. I think it should be done by some process at the time the account is created or with some command to add a new user to the mail server...

I try to reproduce the same structure from other users by hand and I will inform about the result ...

Thanks
