Due to hardware failure in one of our server , I want to fix that hard disks(IDE) to seperate server (with having different hardwares)
and provide the same functionality using the new pc .But once I connect my old hard disks to new pc , Network Coneection(eth0) wont start up.
once I restart the network service it says " eepro100 device does not seems to be present....delaying start up " .
my /etc/modeprobe.conf file look like this
alias eth0 eepro100
I remove this line from this file and restart my new pc. But still the same problems prevails. hopefully , now Im having Broadcom Network card and existing system (linux) wont detect the driver for this Network Card.
I try to download the driver source rpm file from broadcom site and try to install it to the Linux system. But It didnt get suceed.
Please help me a way to solve this problem. Your responses are highly.

Our responses are highly WHAT?? And this is NOT URGENT for anyone here...if you need **URGENT** support, you can pay RedHat or SuSE, and they'll be there for you, 24/7. We volunteer our time...demanding urgent responses is rude.
Chances are the /etc/sysconfig/network/ethxx file has a different MAC address in it. Since the new server has a new MAC, you can either change that line, or bring the server up and reconfigure the network manually. You say nothing about what particular hardware you have, version/distro of Linux, etc., so it's hard to be specific.

hi ,
Thanks for your reply. I dont have any mac address defined in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file.
Only having ip address,ONBOOT,name,network,default gateway.
My new pc model is Dell Optilex 160L and network card is broadcom , Linux version Linux 4.
I issued lspci and it'll show unknown device in front of the network Controller.
Thanks

First, there is no "Linux version Linux 4". And a Broadcom WHAT? What model?? Second, (since this is **URGENT**), have you bothered to check the Dell website for a driver??? Without details we can't help.
And again...can you get the system booted, and manually configure the network? Again...flagging your post as urgent isn't a good thing, which you seem to ignore.
