nameresolution timeout after longer samba runtime

greetings fellow forumites,

we are running several server with SLES10SP3 and samba. After the service is running for a while we are getting timeouts for 15-20 seconds during a ping on the fqdn before he can resolv the name, same happens with traceroute and ssh.
ping on a ip is successfull at once and nslookup is not showing any errors.

after a restart of the smb, nmb and winbind services the nameresolution is functioning normally again.

i honestly dont know where to start looking, this is a virtualized system and i checked the hypervisor (vsphere) logs but those turned out clean.

if you can give me some directions where to start and what to look for that will be much appreciated

thanks in advance

On ESX ESXi try use hugepages.
