Nagios doubt

Hi Guys

I have a quick question.

I just installed nagios (nagios core) on my Ubuntu server.. I can open the application on my browser now.. but how do I add more servers to be monitor? Is there any agent that I can add on those servers? Or I need to install nagios on all servers?

Thanks

you add nodes in the host config file as defined in the nagios.cfg file, maybe/etc/nagios/hosts.cfg. As to what else you need to install, that depends on what you want to monitor about it.

If you want to monitor disk space etc them you'll need something to connect to. i'd recommend installing the nagios-plugins on the end devices and using the check_ssh plugin to pull the data back. I would not recommend using nrpe. alternatively you could use an SNMP based mechanism, but nagios does tend to suck at snmp.

What KIND of servers?? Windows, Linux, Mac??? And if you bothered to try looking this up, you have found lots of information, on the Nagios website, and plenty of other links too.
