Mail Questions

Greetings all. I recently moved into a new company and inherited a bunch of Linux servers. The IT support here has been a revolving door and it's been hell trying to figure out how everything works being a Linux beginner.

Anyway, the question I have is regarding our company's e-mail. I know it's running qmail with an openwebmail front end. It's working, but nothing has been updated in the last 3 years. I'm thinking of switching openwebmail for something else, but is it possible to run more than one front end at the same time while I do some learning/testing?

You shouldn't have any problems running another web based frontend to test. These usually just fetch the email thru IMAP or POP so it's not like you're trying to install another MTA to replace Qmail, even though you should probably think about dropping that POS MTA with Postfix..

Thanks for the reply. I'll eventually get to replacing almost everything I guess. My objective is to try to update the really outdated packages first then figure out upgrading/replacing things altogether. If it ain't broke and all that. I don't want to be responsible for breaking something and causing any unwarranted downtime.
