When i execute the command : rpm -qa 'util-linux*', i find that util-linux-2.13-0.56.el5 is installed.

Then what could be the reason that lscpu command is not working ?

Where is it installed? Is it in your $PATH? Type "echo $PATH" in a console to check.

@JZL240I-U and all friends,,

I checked the output of the command : rpm -ql 'util-linux' | grep 'lscpu*' and found that lscpu does not exist. whereis also gives blank output for lscpu. Could you please confirm whether lscpu is available for RHEL 5.6 and is it available in util-linux-2.13-0.56.el5 package ?

It is not available.

Basically the lscpu command parses the information from /proc/cpu and sysfs.
