Lightbulb Linux Server


Hi!
I have to have a Linux server for shell programming on Windows (XP) clients. Can you help me?

Based on your statement above my first thought is you want a VB Script. However since you are asking about a Linux server I am assuming this is not what you want.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? Do you just want an environment to run shell scripts? Are you looking for a server to perform specific task? Are you just looking for a server to store your scripts?

What equipment do you have to work with?

Hi!
Yes I just want an environment to run shell scripts.
I want to install Linux server on one of the machines and use it for shell programming by connecting the WindowsXP clients thru Telnet.

Well, you can install Linux on a box, then use Putty SW on the XP clients to connect. I'd advise using ssh instead of telnet, for security reasons.
If you want a shell env on an XP system, get Cygwin http://www.cygwin.com/
