Hi All,
Thanks in advance.
I need help in creating a autorun cd, that should automatically install the OS and then a software and after that it should configure the LAN cards with different IP addresses and configure the gateway IP address for each interface and then reset the root password.
I want to install on a remote hardware.
Let me know if there is some software or I need to create some scripts.
What OS are you targeting?
With Redhat you could do most of this with a kickstart file. Configuring the network cards may take some scripting in the kickstart file, but not impossible.
I know Debian uses a similar method, but don't recall it off-hand.
Tell us what distro and maybe someone else may be able to offer some more advice.
The actual question that you ask doesn't seem to have anything to do with "recompilation"; did you mean reconfiguration?

that should automatically install the OS
Bare in mind the dangers of doing that.

configure the LAN cards with different IP addresses
Different from what? One another, or different from the adresses that may have had earlier? Can you predict addresses that are safe?

Someone will have to put the disk in the drive, and, if you leave it in place, it will re-install if you re-boot. Are you sure that this is what you want?
Thank you for the answers, I am not sure about recompilation term, my requirement is that, I want to install linux on remote system without any user interference, user just has to insert the cd and the cd will format and should automatically configure the system too, like if I have two LAN cards it should assign the IP address to each LAN card, change the login credentials, assigning the gateway addresses to the system, should install the software automaticall which I want. This is what I want to achieve.

You need to decide what distro you want to use first. I've done similar with CentOS (clone of RHEL). You can get my ISOs at iso.qmailtoaster.com if you want an example to work from.
If you're using Debian/Ubuntu then hopefully someone else can chime in.
Thank you for the response.
Well I want to create it for Linux 2.4 , basically this is the base OS and after this I want to install software also and configure the ehternet cards.
could you please let me know the procedure.
Regards
It still depends on the distro you're using (Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, RHEL, CentOS, etc.).
If you're interested in CentOS 4.x, then I have an ISO I put together a while back that installs Qmailtoaster for you. You can download the iso from iso.qmailtoaster.com and look at the kickstart file I use - that will get you started in the right direction.
If you're using a Debian/Ubuntu/whetever-else distro, I can't help you there.
I hope you might have heard about Checkpoint SecurePlatform, the base OS is Linux.I want to crate automatic installation CD in that.
Let me know if you have any idea.

From what I can see, they both come on CD as bootable/installable. Since I can't see which distribution of Linux they use, I cannot say how to modify their CD to fit your needs.
If you're buying their stuff, ask them how to modify their installer to fit your needs. Some of that should be covered under the support.
