Is it possilble to run oracle 10g R2 on centos 5.8

I have installed RHEL 6 64 bit,

but i can not install oracle 10g on RHEL 6.

Now i would like to go for centos 5.8

and then install install oracle 10g on centos 5.8

is there a reason you can not use the current Oracle database 11g

And if you are going to use Oracle's own DB why not use Oracle's rebuild of RHEL6
it is optimized for running Oracle's own DB

centos and RHEL will run that database but slower

and although RHEL5.8 is still supported it is showing it's age - it is now "over the hill"

but to answer for the old 10g db
you can, but it will be slightly hard to support other software on centos 5.8 .
5.9 will be the very last in the 5 series
