Seriously, are you even trying to search? Stop asking such vague questions.
You need an OS and an MTA. The MTA you choose might have different dependencies than others. Now go choose which one you want to use and go from there.
Hi, I heard that sendmail is the most popular software. But to get it working I think you need to configure BIND9 properly.
Sendmail is popular and comes with just about every distro but it has it's issues. Personally I think Postfix is better, it's built like Sendmail but easier to administer and has better track record on security.
As for BIND9, you don't necessarily need it with Sendmail. Only if you need to use real MX records to recieve email to an actual domain, but sendmail has other uses and is fully capable of doing everything but recieving email for actual domain name without Bind. You can also use external or 3rd party DNS sources for domain email, etc.
However, my website uses php to send many automated emails like email verification, welcome email, and forgot password email. These automated emails also need to have a real MX record so they won't be treated as spam.
Is there a way to set up two MX records in DNS? One for google mail (for manual reading and answering) and one for my own send mail (for automated mail messages)?
