How do you configure an IPA client to see an IPA replica?

Here's the scenario. An IPA network is set up with one server and many clients. Now we want to introduce a replica server in case the IPA server goes down. We can get it working, but what do you do about the clients?

How are the clients configured to see the replica if the primary server goes down?

I was looking at the /etc/ipa/default.conf on the clients and the man page has nothing on backup_server, so do you just add another server to <host> or <server> (which I think is deprecated)?

I know you need to edit the /etc/krb5.conf on the client as well as /etc/sssd/ssd.conf. I can't remember if you need to change the /etc/ipa/default.conf or not?

Thanks. I'll try updating those files when I get my replica up. If it fails, then I'll research into the default.conf file.

But, if anyone can post an example of their configuration files for a working IPA network with replication, that would be great.
