Help with mounting samba share: smbmount or mount.cifs error: permission denied

Hi,

I set up a simple samba share on a Ubuntu 8.04 server. My client is Ubuntu 9.04. I thought I could mount the samba share from the server to the client. So I tried something on the client like:

sudo smbmount //server/share /client/mountpoint

After giving my passwd, I got:

mount error(13): Permission denied

I am not sure where this problem came from. Is it because the user/group are not correct? Where do I start to look?

Thanks.

David

Its look like //server/share don't have access permission for user

for example: //server/share point to /data just assume. Go to check the permission for /data directory for x user.

for testing: create a file/directory in /data as x user(not samba). Just login into server as x user and then try this.
