grub on raid0

Can you please tell if you can install grub on hardware raid0? I have only one partition on the disk / root. Do I need to make a separate boot?

As far as I know RAID0 cannot be used for the /boot (and especially not the /beet/EFI) tree, although RAID1 can be used.
grub needs a single (physical) disk to access.

that's why I asked that question. Slackware could run on raid 0 and mbr with a single root partition. but now when I install Gentoo it doesn't work. want to understand why
