Graphics issue on IBM server x3650 m3 Fedora 11
Hi to all here at LQ.
This is my first post and as the subject goes, I had a graphics issue on one of our servers which is an IBM x3650 m3. I installed Fedora 11 and everything seems fine but when I tried to switch to console or terminal, I only got a blank screen, but when I switch back to GUI, the display normalizes. I installed Fedora on a SCSI disk with RAID 1 config. My graphics chip is Matrox G200. Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA.

Not surprised. The IBM systems have drivers that you've got to download from their site (good luck with that...took me 45 minutes to find them last year), to make everything work right. The way their hardware treats a console device is what's doing it. If you're using the GUI ok, then you're mostly there now.
If this is a fresh installation, I'd strongly suggest loading something current. The latest Fedora is 14, which will provide updated drivers out of the box, and may fix your problem. If you don't need Fedora, then try CentOS. That hardware is certified for RHEL, and CentOS (for all intents and purposes), IS RHEL, and may again solve your problem out of the box. If not, the drivers on IBM's site will most probably be for an RHEL or SuSE Enterprise system. This is from memory from about a year ago..things may have changed on their site, and the drivers may be different now. Your mileage may vary.

Hi thanks for the reply, yup I saw almost all of the drivers for ibm servers are for suse and RHEL. For now the server is in production with the GUI running, maybe I'll let it be until I had the chance to further troubleshoot it.
