Question Glusterfs Add brick to replica volume

Hello

I try to build and test a system with 3 (later to expand to 5) servers using Glusterfs replica volume so all servers have the same files and if a file is added/deleted on any server that change to get applied to the other servers.

Reading the documentation and a few tutorials around i end up using something like:

server1
server2
server3

I create at Server1 the replica volume using:

Code:
gluster volume create gluster-vmstore replica 2 server1:/vmstore server2:/vmstore force

Question 1 (add server3 to replica volume): Should i run at server1 (where i create the replica volume) this:

Code:
gluster peer probe server3
or run this at server3?

Code:
gluster peer probe server1

Question 2: What it will happened if server1 (where i create the replica volume) goes down?

Thank you
