Global prob with server

Hi folks, just had reports, that my icecast server can not be "read" world wide.

I looked into it, a bit. Locally fine, several servers are running on that box ( Jaunty Ubuntu 9.4 ). So while my friend tried to access, various servers on that box, from outside it turned out that my, Axigen mail server is work, webmail not, icecast not.

To see if it was a firestarter, I turned it off briefly, nothing arrived. Have not fidled with my VM Router.

It has running flawlesly for over a year.

Sorry, not much info, but ask what you guys need.
And how to get it. It is a kbd, monitorless box. Have access to it accross a lan.

Are you sure the relevant port is not being blocked by your ISP?

You should also check that your router is configured to forward that port.

Also, what do you have for bind-address in your config file?

Cheers,

Evo2.

Nothing has changed there, but I will check.

I think the config file location depends on the installation. You should be able to find out by reading the documentation in /usr/share/doc/icecast2/ assuming that your version of icecast is from that package.

oh right, THAT config file! In ubuntu icecast2 from the repos, its in
Code:
/usr/local/etc/icecast.xml
and that appears fine, just reset my routers dns back to Virgin's about to test it, when my partner and I go to the pub.

found the problem!

More advice requirded. I run two linux boxes, one runs my sftp site (tux) and the other runs everything else (tux2).

Both have a resolverble name, eg tux.isa-geek.org, tux2 ....

I only have one ip number, so the ports are forwarded to appropreate boxes.

Now the world can see and get everywhere but tux, can't resolve webmail and the links on tuxfm. After changing the links from tux2.isa-geek.org/mystream.m3u to tux.isa-geek ....

Can I change my local host name on tux from tux.isa-geek.org to tux so tux has to go on the internet to find tux2?
