A segmentation fault is very similar to a "crash to desktop" in windows. Most likely this is an issue that could be better dealt with by the application developers forums (or their irc channel) than here. There are a multitude of potential problems that could cause the issue and likely someone will need to examine the contents of a core dump to determine what the problem is specifically.
This is more likely to be an application issue or problems with library version discrepancies than a specific linux issue.
Distribution: OpenBSD 4.6, OS X 10.6.2, CentOS 4 & 5

You're trying to run the 64-bit version of the application, are you sure you're actually running a 64-bit kernel?
If so, then you'll need to visit the support forums for the application itself. There's obviously a problem trying to allocate memory beyond the bounds of where it should be, it's impossible to tell why from the information you provided.
