File server+Search Engine

Hello

Here at work we have a few spare HHD drives, and old MOBOS (still working)
I was thinking of doing a small internal File Server.

Ideally it should have a GUI that customers can access and search files, for example by DOC ID, category, name, etc.

I have the following requirements:
1) Accessible to windows clients
2) It must preserve RW, System, and Hidden attributes
3) It must preserve ASCII format for text files

I was thinking of implementing a NAS solution, but I don't know if you have other suggestions.

Also what app could you suggest for the searching part.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You only need search monkey and you will have all what you want. It is regex capable, text search, file names, cross platform, etc.

Hope that helps. Good luck and enjoy.
