So you posted a description of what you want to do.
You *didn't* post steps you took and where you failed.

have got fetchmail to collect domain mail and it is all sitting in a folder /var/spool/mail.
my theory was to use postfix to sort this into user mailboxes, eg bob@here.com phil@here.com, sue@here.com all sitting in above folder and would then be passed to bob phil and sue home directories.
this is where i am stuck as i am confused as to whether postfix can do this and if so what file to edit ? or should i forget about pstfix all together and use procmail ??
i can collect all the mail in the present directory by a client pc but i just cant seem to get my head aroud the filtering to different mail accounts ?

Yes, Fetchmail can hand off incoming email to Procmail so you don't need Postfix for that.
