Sorry for necroposting, but this is the first thread that pops up when searching for 'EoFC 4GBit Linux'. Seeing the first lustrum is looming put me in a festive mood ;-)
I had hoped that the last five years would some implementation of the standard, but information is not easy to come by.
There's a
blogpost from 2015 that promises wide availability and backward compatibility. Might someone with more information regarding Linux and EoFC come across this thread, please add some info!
Edit: maybe 'it just works'.
The RFC mentioned above is superseded by
rfc4338. Searching the RFC gave a result in
https://www.kernel.org/doc/rfc-linux.html, which states it is implemented in include/scsi/fc/fc_fs.h
Lacking a fibre channel HBA I won't be testing it anytime soonish, but seeing the price of 4GBit HBA's (under 10 Euro, excluding shipping), I'll give it a try in the distant future!
