Ethernet over 8GBit FC ports?

Has anyone setup ethernet over a fiber port?
We have lots of 8Gb fiber HBA/ports available on our switches and hosts, but do not have the money to spend on a 10GBe switch.
I would like to know how (with details) to setup ethernet over fiber ports so we can get faster network speeds between our servers by using the 8GBit FC ports rather than the 1GBe RJ45 ports.

It appears as though there is an RFC for IP communication over FC. I have never heard of anyone implementing it though.

https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2625

I don't think FC was really meant to do this.

Thanks, I was hoping that since FCoE existed, perhaps EoFC existed as well.
The FC HBA's and switches are so much cheaper than the ethernet ones...

Sorry for necroposting, but this is the first thread that pops up when searching for 'EoFC 4GBit Linux'. Seeing the first lustrum is looming put me in a festive mood ;-)

I had hoped that the last five years would some implementation of the standard, but information is not easy to come by.

There's a blogpost from 2015 that promises wide availability and backward compatibility. Might someone with more information regarding Linux and EoFC come across this thread, please add some info!

Edit: maybe 'it just works'.

The RFC mentioned above is superseded by rfc4338. Searching the RFC gave a result in https://www.kernel.org/doc/rfc-linux.html, which states it is implemented in include/scsi/fc/fc_fs.h

Lacking a fibre channel HBA I won't be testing it anytime soonish, but seeing the price of 4GBit HBA's (under 10 Euro, excluding shipping), I'll give it a try in the distant future!
