Error during os provisioning

Hi Guys.

Please help me try to solve this error that appears during os provisioning of Centos 8.5 2011, the installation stucks with this error: “Started cancel waiting for multipath siblings of sda”,
The hardware is a server HP ProLiant BL460c G7.
Actually, I am using xcat 2.16.4 to perform de os provisioning

Thank you in advance for your help.

Please read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature. Because putting your exact error into any search engine would pull up:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1916168

...an apparent known bug. We can try to help, but you haven't told us anything about your hardware, anything you've done/tried so far, any other error(s)/message(s) you've seen, etc.

Don't edit your posts, as it only makes things confusing for people to follow...you could have just answered and posted this information, rather than going back to your first post and shoving it in there.

So it's an HP blade server, and you followed up with nothing related to the original message you posted, in regards to the disk?? Have you read/followed the bug report?? Have you tried loading WITHOUT using xcat??

You've posted twice with different things/messages....if you keep changing what the error/problem is, there's not going to be much we can tell you; it's gone from disk issues (sda) to showing us network issues now....which is it, and where does it stall??

I am using xcat because I am setting up an hpc cluster. The first post is showing the dracut error without any troubleshooting step for debugging the error. Then, I decided to apply these steps for troubleshoot the error: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US...acut-problems/, after adding this "rd.shell rd.debug log_buf_len=1M" as kernel arguments I've got more information that I have shown in the previous post. As you say, it looks like a problem with interfaces but I am not able to identify them by the id that is shown in the error. I have already check the macs in the ilo and the server profile but none of those ids are mentioned. Any other ideas for troubleshooting this error?

Great...again, have you tried *NOT* using it, to see if things work???

You're not?? They're listed in what you posted as ens2f0 and ens2f1; those are the identifiers. If things are set up for DHCP, check the DHCP server for the MAC addresses. Again, it looks like there's something going on, and the install shouldn't just *STOP* if the network can't come up.

Again: do diagnostics...run a PLAIN INSTALL from the CentOS image...not using xcat or anything else, and see what happens.

Hello.

I am installing right now Centos 8.5 2011 with the cd room as you suggest and it is working. About the dracut error with xcat os provisioning, in the error I saw the identifiers but in the ilo/server profile I am not able to identify them, but I think is the second network card. I have already disabled for pxe boot but the error still is present. I will check about the dhcp server in xcat to see if there is something that I can do there. I will come back to this thread for any output about your suggestions. Thank you for your help.

Hi.

After installing Centos 8.5 2011, I notice that the integrated network cards are not detected by the operating system. The ingrated network cards are HP NC553i 10 GB 2-port Flexfabric. Is there any way to force the operating system to detect it?

The controller detected is this one, output of the command: "lspci -nn | grep -i net"
https://postimg.cc/1f3yt5zJ

And the nics that appears are this ones, output of the command "mncli device"
https://postimg.cc/xNbyySf7

Thank you in advance for your reply.

After I lot of research, I discovered that the ProLiant BL460c G7 server are compatible only until Centos 7, this is the source of the information: https://access.redhat.com/ecosystem/hardware/941513. I wonder if there is a workaround to make them work with Centos 8 in some way.
