Hi To All,

I'm a newbie to Linux and to this forum, and i'm not sure if i posted
this thread or reply to the correct but, if i am, feel free to point me to
the right direction...

I am also running SAMBA as a PDC for my Windows XP machine... I was able to
set things up and everything were running smoothly until last week!

My Windows XP machines, starts prompting the message "Windows Error! Duplicate Name
On The Network Exist". When I checked my Windows XP Machines, i find no duplicate name
all hosts names of my windows XP Machin are totally different from the other. I have made
no changes to those machines including my SAMBA Server...


Can anyone help me with this one?

It's possible that the XP machine is acting as the master browser of the Windows domain AND the PDC now has a new IP address.

Solution: shut down all machines on the LAN. Start the Linux PDC machine before any other machines. Then start the XP machine after Samba is completely started on the Linux machine.
